Surf Shanty Motel

We were surprised to find out today via email from hotels.com that we had a reservation for tonight. We don't have a hotels.com account and neither my husband or I recalled making a reservation. We called Shanty - they said a Mastercard had been charged. Whew, we also don't have a Mastercard so that had to be incorrect. This must be fraud.
Looked further, our PayPal account had been charged $382.92 in August. The Motel will not authorize a move of the "reservation" nor issue a refund. The reservation also had cancellation coverage...seems a waste.
Not a great experience.

Great, clean, and convenient place to stay. Right off the Van Dyke beach access. The location makes short work of getting on and off Dewey beach. Andre was as advertised and was super helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and like others have mentioned the beds were super comfy and easy to fall asleep in. Highly recommend!

First time in Dewey Beach and we are so happy we stayed in this adorable, clean, comfortable and perfectly located motel. Steps to the beach, wonderful breakfast shop across the road and some really fun restaurants around the corner. We were able to walk 2 miles on the beach to Rehoboth. Found plenty of sea glass along the way. Andre was so welcoming and you can tell how much he loves this place. April is quiet in the best way. Must be so fun in the summer too! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
