The story of Dogfish Head began in June of 1995 when we opened
Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, the first state's first brewpub opened
in the resort beach community of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The plan was
to bring original beer, original food, and original music to the area.
Not only was Dogfish Head Delaware’s first brewpub, it was the smallest commercial brewery in America. Our very first batch, Shelter Pale Ale, was brewed on a system which essentially was three little kegs with propane burners underneath. Brewing 12–gallon batches of beer for a whole restaurant proved to be more than a full time job. When the doors to the pub first opened, we brewed three times a day, five days a week! The one benefit to brewing on such a small system was the ability to try out a myriad of different recipes. We quickly got bored brewing the same things over and over – that’s when we started adding all sorts of weird ingredients and getting kind of crazy with the beers!

We stopped here on a Monday around 2:30 before a storm, and it was busy but not packed. The workers were friendly enough, and explained how to order food outside and the drinks inside. Our cocktails were delightful and refreshing, and we absolutely loved the pork sandwich!
After eating, we explored the shop, bought a shirt, a few stickers, and a case of beer, and then went outside to pet dogs and admire the steampunk treehouse. There were corn hole boards set up and plenty of outside dining tables with umbrellas. I just wish the weather held out for us! It really seems like an amazing place to hang out and enjoy some libations!
We absolutely loved how welcoming the place is to dogs!

The building and grounds are nice, very well kept. The staff was mostly friendly and quick. They offer many beers, premade cocktails and soft drinks. There is a walk up door window offering pizza, a few sandwiches, and appetizers. There is a nice outdoor area great for kids to run around. The inside isn't huge. Tables are first come first serve. We had to stand for awhile before one freed up. It is a chill place and the beer is good.

I have visited Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton a number of times and it’s definitely a spot you don’t want to miss! When you see the iconic and amazing Steampunk treehouse, you’ll know you’re in the right place. They offer a fantastic selection with over 40 beers and cocktails on tap, so there’s something for every taste. The brewery also features weekly specials, fun events throughout the year, and exclusive beers that you can’t get anywhere else. Plus, their food menu is perfect for when you get the munchies. The have a little store on site to buy merchandise of beer to take home. Definitely a great place to spend an afternoon or evening! They are dog friendly so be sure to bring your little 4 legged friend with you. And let’s not forget about their annual Dogfish Dash running race. Always a great time!
