Cape Suites

Jill was a great host! She really went above and beyond to help us out and was always prompt in texting back with answers. Everything was clean and the bathroom was renovated which was so great! Cape suites is tucked away just a block over from all the hustle and bustle but perfect walking distance to the boardwalk/ beach so it’s a great spot for families. We loved our stay and we highly recommend Cape Suites to anyone who is looking for a great and clean spot!

This review is for Room #8 of the Cape Suites MOTEL that we booked on AirBnB. AirBnB lists this as a 2 bedroom but there is only 1 bedroom.

Pros
1. Location, location, location
2. On site laundry (hours 930 AM -4 PM)
3. Free beach chairs to borrow
4. Confederate flags on property
5. Free parking spot included (safe)
6. Great food places nearby
7. Aladdin grocery store bang opposite the property
8. Microwave and fridge
9. Extra murphy bed

Cons
1. Cleaning was not done until 5 mins before check in time
2. Moderate mosquito population in parking lot
3. Off brand tissue box (sand paper quality)
4. Poorly lit rooms and the space is really tight
5. Air conditioning is old and noisy (kept waking us up all night because it turns on and off)
6. Bedroom door is swollen and hard to open once closed
7. Laundry hours are exactly during beach time hours
8. Bedroom windows do not have blackout curtains
9. Early mornings are noisy with daily food delivery trucks
10. Limited toiletries and towel supply (exorbitant room charges in peak Summer times deserve a better housekeeping program)
11. No drinking water

We first checked into unit 8 & noticed there was black mold on the AC unit. While we never got a response via the app, the host was quick to respond when I called, and offered to move us to another unit. Unit 7’s AC units were dusty so she offered to come clean them. There was also some kind of gray/black substance on the toilet seat that she cleaned. However, as the AC units ran over the next 24 hours the odor in the apartment became unbearable (horrible must/mold smell), seemingly from the front AC unit. We ended up leaving after one night because we didn’t feel comfortable with the air and couldn’t stand the smell. There were also sunscreen stains on the couch and front door which needed to be cleaned. Lastly, I had searched for a 2 bedroom place with Airbnbs filters. While this apartment had two beds, there were not two bedrooms. One bed is a Murphy bed in the living room by the only entrance to the unit. Once our toddler went down we were stuck in the back/only bedroom. Super grossed out and disappointed
